IRA es la historia de un periodista que decide cambiar el rumbo de su documental para grabar la preparación, diseño y ejecución de un asesinato. El padre de un hijo asesinado ha decidido aprender a matar y a tomarse la justicia por su mano.
IRA aborda temas universales y actualmente controvertidos como la justicia, la pena de muerte o la venganza.
Jota Aronak comienza su carrera en el mundo del cortometraje y el videoclip. Ha dirigido seis multipremiados cortometrajes y más de noventa videos musicales además de numerosos spots de publicidad. IRA es su debut en el largometraje.
En el reparto, los actores Urko Olazabal y Nacho Marraco al que hemos visto recientemente en El Ministerio del Tiempo además de Diana Facen y Santiago Ruiz. Con guión de Jota Aronak, IRA mezcla realidad y ficción. La película se ha rodado en España, Estados Unidos, Islandia, Suecia, México, Holanda, Japón, Chile y Cuba producida por Bajo Cero, Random Films, Harold Entertainment y Versus Entertainment. Sinopsis
Iker Vélez es un periodista que, durante la grabación de su primer documental sobre las diferentes maneras de entender la justicia y aplicar el castigo en el mundo, conoce a Cesar Mayo, el padre de un joven asesinado que presenció como el culpable fue absuelto. Este le hace una arriesgada propuesta al periodista que cambiará el rumbo de su documental: Grabar cómo mata al asesino de su hijo. El periodista acepta, registra el proceso pero jamás coopera en el crimen.
Iker investiga el caso del joven asesinado y las extrañas circunstancias que lo rodearon. Mientras, César, un hombre corriente, aprende ante la cámara cómo matar y reducir su futura condena, y así demostrar que la justicia es manipulable. A medida que pasa el tiempo César diseña y elabora un plan para ejecutar a Fabián Arias, supuesto asesino de su hijo. Estudiando las leyes y el código penal basará el crimen en su propia defensa.
